Shirley our Managing Partner. our Managing Partner. Her 34 years of practice started in Sydney, Australia. After graduation from University of Sydney, she was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1988. She commenced her practice in Sydney, Australia with Baker & McKenzie, an international commercial firm. (Its local office in Malaysia is known as Wong & Partners). In 1991, Shirley returned to Malaysia and was called to the Malaysian Bar in the same year. She had previously practiced as a partner in both the corporate and conveyancing departments in Cheang & Ariff until 2004. (Now known as Chooi & Co + Cheang & Ariff).Her professional experience covers corporate finance and securities work, listing and fund raising exercises, corporate restructuring, capital market transactions, take-overs, mergers and acquisitions for local public and private companies as well as international clients. She has also handled cross border mergers and international transactions.
Over the years, she has vast experience in the general commercial work, and she has done many corporate restructurings and developer projects.
She is a registered trade mark agent in Malaysia and has done extensive IP work in the media industry. She also holds a Practising Certificate to practice as a Solicitor in New South Wales, Australia.

Shirley is fluent and literate in English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia. She speaks the Chinese dialect of Cantonese.
LIM ZI YI - PARTNER - LLB. (HONS), UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS
Lim Zi Yi holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from University of Leeds, United Kingdom in 2016 and completed her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2017. Following that, she commenced pupillage in Chiong & Partners and was admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor in December 2018.After her admission to the bar, she joined Zaid Ibrahim & Co. as first year legal associate and she advised local and foreign clients on acquisition and disposal of residential, industrial and commercial properties. She also advised clients on deferred payment scheme, secondary loan arrangement as well as retail and commercial banking matters. On top of her commercial business practice, she also assisted on banking litigation matters especially in relation to hire purchase.
Prior to joining our firm, she was a corporate counsel of an investment company. She advised executives within the company as well as negotiated and executed agreements on behalf of the company.
Zi Yi joined us in February 2022 and is currently handling Conveyancing, Corporate and Commercial matters.

Dr. Tay Pek San holds a Doctor of Philosophy in intellectual property law from Universiti Malaya. She specializes in the areas of intellectual property law, information technology law and contract law. Prior to joining Siew Lee & Co, she was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya where she spent more than 25 years teaching, writing and researching in these areas. She is well-versed on all aspects of intellectual property protection covering contentious and non-contentious matters including the identification, protection, commercialization, enforcement and defence of the full range of intellectual property rights. She is experienced in advising clients on issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in businesses including compliance with data privacy regulations and dealing with cybersecurity issues. Her vast knowledge in this area is evident in the books that she has authored and the many book chapters as well as articles that have been published in peer-reviewed local and international journals. She is the author of :-- The Law of Intellectual Property in Malaysia (Sweet & Maxwell Asia), first published in 2013 and now in its second edition, published in October 2020. It is the leading reference book on Malaysian intellectual property law used by practitioners and the academia
- The Protection of Well-Known Trade Marks in Malaysia (Sweet & Maxwell Asia, 2007) She also co-authored the following books:-

Pek San read law as an undergraduate at the University of Sydney, Australia and obtained her Master of Laws, majoring in intellectual property law, from Universiti Malaya. She was called to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia in 1987 as Barrister and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1988. She was in active legal practice with a focus on commercial litigation prior to joining Universiti Malaya. During her tenure at Universiti Malaya, she was involved in consultancy work for governmental departments and the private sector. These include, among others, the following:-
- She was a member of the team of consultants who was commissioned by the National Information Technology Council to research into the laws and policies affecting the development of information technology during the establishment of the country's Multimedia Super Corridor in 1996
- On the regional front, she was a member of the team of consultants engaged in 2005 to propose a feasible work plan for co-operation in copyright within ASEAN
- Apart from intellectual property law, she has rendered legal opinions to the private sector on contract law disputes involving major international corporations
- She has been consulted and rendered written legal opinions on specific issues in data protection law
- For several years now, she has served as a consultant to the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia on ongoing amendments to the country's copyright and trademark law statutes.

Pek San is fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. She speaks the Chinese dialect of Hokkien.
LEE LAY CHOO - LLB. SYDNEY, LL.M (HONS) UKM
Lee Lay Choo read law in University of Sydney, Australia and graduated with Bachelor of Laws in 1987. She was subsequently called to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia in 1988 as Barrister and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1992. She also holds a Master of Laws from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia obtained in 2001.She joined the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Service in January 1989 with her first posting as a Senior Assistant Registrar at the High Court of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. Between 1990 to 1996, she served as a Magistrate at various Magistrate Courts across Malaysia. She first joined the Attorney General's Chambers in 1997 and was made the first resident Deputy Public Prosecutor based with the High Court of Malaya in Muar, Johor, Malaysia. Shortly thereafter, she was posted as the legal adviser to the Ministry of Health in Malaysia (from 1998 to 1999 and again from 2005 to 2008). She also served as a Senior Federal Counsel in the Privatization Unit of Advisory Division and as Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Appeals Unit of the Prosecution Division at the Attorney General's Chambers from 2001 to 2005. She was also the legal adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry in Malaysia from 2008 to 2009.
Other positions which she held during her law career in the civil service was Deputy Commissioner Law Revision and Reform at the Attorney General's Chambers (2009 to 2013) and Director General of the Judicial and Legal Training Institute at the Prime Minister's Office (2013 to 2015). Her last appointment before her early retirement was as the Senior Federal Counsel of the Attorney General's Chambers (2015 to 2016). She was listed as the panel arbitrator and adjudicator for the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre of Arbitration then but has since ceased practice as arbitrator and adjudicator.
Ms Lee served as Board member of the Malaysian Medical Device Authority under the auspices of the Ministry of Health from 2 January 2019 until 30 April 2020. She is well versed in the medical devices regulations.

Lee Lay Choo is fluent and literate in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. She speaks the Chinese dialect of Hokkien and Cantonese.
TAN TZE HONG - LLB. (HONS), UM
Tan Tze Hong graduated from University of Malaya in 2019.Prior to joining our firm, he was a chambering student in Mah Kamariyah & Philip Koh ( "MKP"). During his time with MKP, he mainly involved in conducting legal due diligence works for corporate exercises project such as mergers and acquisitions, propose dividend re-investment plan and propose listing on main market. Apart from that, he also involved in handling some conveyancing file.
Tze Hong joined us in January 2021 and is currently handling Corporate and Commercial and Conveyancing matters.

Tze Hong is fluent and literate in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin. He speaks the Chinese dialect of Cantonese and Hokkien.
AMIRA ADILAH BINTI BADERULHISHAM - LLB. (HONS), IIUM
Amira Adilah Binti Baderulhisham holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from International Islamic University of Malaysia in Gombak, Selangor.Prior to joining our firm, she was a chambering student in Faizah Aishah Rahman & Associates handling matters on general litigation. Apart from that, she also involved in handling some conveyancing file. Upon completed her pupillage, she was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2021.
She joined our team in Johor Bahru in March 2022 and currently handles conveyancing matters.

Amira Adilah is fluent and literate in English and Bahasa Malaysia. She also has a basic knowledge in Arabic Language. She speaks English and Bahasa Malaysia.
